Muriel McHenry, who lived and worked in Bangladesh for the Seventh-day Adventist Church during the years 1980-1986, found a little group of about five ladies there trying to find a way to earn their living. Muriel got excited about the idea, and began to advertise to her friends and send things home to the United States to sell. By the time she came back to the United States, she was convinced this was something that needed to continue, so she became one of their best sales people, going out to public places with her husband, and making sure everyone knew about Pollywog. After several years of doing this, she got a website of her own going, and the business began to grow. Now the group of 5 ladies has become a small industry in a well-lighted, comfortable building, where they can have the security of working and earning money for their families.
Muriel passed away in 2009, at the age of 86. She was passionate about Pollywog! Many of her previous clients are still looking for Pollywog products because they really are exquisite! I am her daughter-in-law, and I decided that I would try to carry on her legacy. I'm not good at going out to public places and looking for customers like she did. But online shopping works for me, and I hope it does for you too. If you ever find anyone else selling these beautiful products, don't worry. I'm non-profit, and I don't have exclusive rights to Pollywog. Just keep helping out the women and you will be helping me as well.
At this site, you will find many interesting products useful as gift items such as bookmarks, exquisitely cross stitched on 28-count cloth, greeting cards mounted with cloth designs, including Christmas cards, wedding cards, friendship cards, and birthday cards. You may pay by Paypal, credit card, or by sending a check to my contact address. I hope you enjoy browsing my site, and buying their products to help women in need in the poor country of Bangladesh!
I am now selling the cards and bookmarks in groups of 10 or 20 here in California, in order to have the ones you might want on hand. Look at the groups and decide what types of cards or bookmarks you would want, choose the subject matter, and order the set. If you do it this way, you will usually find that I have the group on hand ready to ship within days of your order. If I don't have that group on hand, I will email you to let you know.
If you want to see up close what these products look like before you invest, you may order a sample of a bookmark or card, just by clicking on that button. I will send you something from my present stock and you will receive it in a few days.
There are so many objects to choose from that I cannot possibly keep them all in stock, so I have to send any special orders to Bangladesh for processing. Once they have made up your order, including special wording, or certain products not in their stock, they will send the order back to me. It's best to plan on 6-8 weeks for the whole process, depending on the complexity of your order.
